Synthesis

There is something rather than nothing. We do not know what it ultimately is, but we encounter it. Science is our most reliable way of engaging with this something—not by declaring final truths, but by building models that help us navigate, predict, and solve problems. These models are provisional and corrigible, yet powerful precisely because they are products of the human mind at work.


Science itself is an activity of consciousness. Hypotheses, explanations, and mathematical structures do not arise directly from the world but emerge within the interior life of the thinker. Ideas arrive unbidden—as intuitions, questions, or sudden connections—rather than as acts of pure will. The mind does not manufacture insight so much as receive it under the right conditions.


Among the ideas that arise in the mind is the idea of the self: the sense of an “I” that owns thoughts, achievements, and creativity. But this self is not an organ or a substance; it is a concept—a useful narrative that can just as easily become a constraint. When clung to, it narrows attention, hardens belief, and resists revision. When held lightly, it loosens. Letting go of rigid identification with ego does not weaken inquiry; it strengthens it. Freedom from self-ownership allows curiosity to widen, creativity to flow, and understanding to deepen—making both science and invention more alive.


Morality follows naturally from this freedom. To act morally is not merely to obey rules, but to recognize and protect the same freedom in others—their right to explore, to imagine, to create. When we no longer insist on owning ideas or outcomes, generosity replaces competition, and collaboration becomes possible. Moral life, at its core, is the extension of interior freedom outward.


Seen this way, seriousness gives way to play. Play is not frivolity; it is engagement without fear, effort without strain, exploration without obsession over results. An attitude of play honors the provisional nature of knowledge, the spontaneity of insight, the lightness of self, and the shared creativity of human life. To live playfully is to participate fully in what is—open, curious, and unburdened—while allowing something genuinely new to emerge.

Ten Reflections

🧠 1. The reason those myths are so easily variable is that their details are barely connected to the details of the phenomena. Nothing in the problem of why winter happens is addressed by postulating specifically a marriage contract or a magic seed, or the gods Persephone, Hades and Demeter – or Freyr. Whenever a wide range of variant theories can account equally well for the phenomenon they are trying to explain, there is no reason to prefer one of them over the others, so advocating a particular one in preference to the others is irrational...Now consider the true explanation of seasons. It is that the Earth’s axis of rotation is tilted relative to the plane of its orbit around the sun. Hence for half of each year the northern hemisphere is tilted towards the sun while the southern hemisphere is tilted away, and for the other half it is the other way around. Whenever the sun’s rays are falling vertically in one hemisphere (thus providing more heat per unit area of the surface) they are falling obliquely in the other (thus providing less). That is a good explanation – hard to vary, because all its details play a functional role...The axis-tilt theory is an example: it was originally proposed to explain the changes in the sun’s angle of elevation during each year. Combined with a little knowledge of heat and spinning bodies, it then explained seasons. And, without any further modification, it also explained why seasons are out of phase in the two hemispheres, and why tropical regions do not have them, and why the summer sun shines at midnight in polar regions – three phenomena of which its creators may well have been unaware.

Context:
In this passage, Deutsch is drawing a sharp distinction between good explanations and bad explanations. He observes that many traditional or myth-based accounts of natural phenomena can be endlessly modified without losing their apparent explanatory power. Whether winter is explained by a divine marriage, a magic seed, or a quarrel among gods makes little difference—the details are interchangeable because they are not tightly constrained by the phenomenon itself. Deutsch argues that this “easy variability” is a sign of explanatory weakness. By contrast, a good explanation is one whose details are tightly interlocked: remove or alter any essential component, and the explanation collapses. His example of Earth’s axial tilt shows how a single, precise mechanism not only explains seasons but also accounts for multiple independent phenomena without additional assumptions. The core insight is methodological rather than metaphysical: rational preference should be given to explanations whose structure is deeply anchored to reality, not to narratives that merely fit observations while remaining arbitrarily adjustable. This principle provides a powerful way to evaluate knowledge claims without appeal to authority, tradition, or belief—only to explanatory depth and constraint.


🧠 2. “The idea of approximation to the truth – like the idea of truth as a regulative principle – presupposes a realistic view of the world. It does not presuppose that reality is as our scientific theories describe it; but it does presuppose that there is a reality and that we and our theories – which are ideas we have ourselves created and are therefore always idealizations – can draw closer and closer to an adequate description of reality, if we employ the four-stage method of trial and error.”

Context: In this passage, Popper explains that science does not give us final truths, only ever-improving approximations. He rejects the idea that our theories mirror reality perfectly; instead, they are human constructions—idealizations, models, conjectures. Yet he insists on a form of realism: there is an objective world, independent of our theories, and because of this, we can move closer to the truth even if we never arrive at certainty. The mechanism for this progress is Popper’s four-stage cycle of problem → conjecture → error elimination → new problem. Through this iterative process of trial and error, we refine our models, discard what fails, and keep what survives criticism. Science advances not by verification but by bold proposals and ruthless correction, always aiming at truth while knowing it can never be fully captured. Popper uses this framework to defend an open, anti-dogmatic view of scientific knowledge: fallible, evolutionary, and perpetually self-correcting.


🧠 3. Our preoccupation with objectives is really a preoccupation with the future. Every moment ends up measured against where we want to be in the future. Are we creeping closer to our goal? Does the assessment confirm that we’re moving forward? The future becomes a distant beacon by which all endeavors are lit. But this beacon is too often deceptive, playing tricks with the light that lead us astray: The beacon of air travel says nothing of induction coils and the beacon of computation says nothing of vacuum tubes. Even so, long ago we visited those very stepping stones entirely unaware that they might lead to such distant horizons. What good then is it to compare the present with the idealized future? Let’s instead try something different and more principled....The important point is that novelty (and interestingness) can compound over time by continually making new things possible. So instead of seeking a final objective, by looking for novelty the reward is an endless chain of stepping stones branching out into the future as novelty leads to further novelty. Rather than thinking of the future as a destination, it becomes a road, a path of undefined potential.”

Context:
In this passage, Stanley challenges the dominant goal-driven view of progress. He argues that fixation on distant objectives distorts judgment in the present, because genuinely transformative discoveries rarely resemble the outcomes they eventually enable. Breakthroughs like air travel or computation did not arise from directly pursuing those goals; they emerged from exploratory steps—such as induction coils or vacuum tubes—whose significance was invisible at the time. Stanley proposes novelty as a more principled guide than objectives. By following what is interesting rather than what is predefined, exploration generates new possibilities that could not have been anticipated in advance. Progress, in this view, is not a march toward a known endpoint but an open-ended journey where each discovery creates new directions to explore. The future is not a destination to be optimized for, but a landscape that unfolds through curiosity-driven movement.



🧠 4. “I call the world of physical events ‘World 1’, and the world of mental events ‘World 2’. That is relatively straightforward. The difficulty begins with what I call ‘World 3’. In the broadest sense ‘World 3’ is the world of products of the human mind; in the narrow sense it is the world of theories, including false theories, and the world of scientific problems, including questions to do with the truth or falsity of various theories. In the broad sense, literary and artistic works such as Mozart’s operas and concertos belong to World 3.”

Context: In this passage, Popper introduces his “Three Worlds” framework, and in doing so makes explicit the often-overlooked role of interiority in human knowledge. World 1 is the physical world of events and objects; World 3 is the world of objective knowledge—scientific theories, mathematical structures, technological inventions, artistic works, and open problems. But between them lies World 2: the lived interior realm of consciousness. It is within World 2 that explanations are first imagined, hypotheses first take shape, and novelty first appears.

The hard-to-vary scientific explanations described by Deutsch, and the open-ended chains of innovation described by Stanley, do not emerge directly from the physical world itself. They arise when a human mind—immersed in thought, curiosity, and play—forms an unexpected connection or insight. These sparks are subjective events: intuitions, images, hunches, questions. Only later are they externalized into World 3 as theories, models, or inventions that can be tested, criticized, and refined.

Popper’s framework clarifies that World 2 is not merely a private spectator to progress but its generative source. Scientific explanations and technological stepping stones begin as interior acts of imagination before they become objective artifacts. World 3 may evolve autonomously once created, but its raw material—novelty, insight, and the initial framing of problems—originates in consciousness. In this way, Popper’s ontology makes room for both the rigor of science and the irreducibly human interior experience from which discovery and invention first arise.


🧠 5. When all a person’s relevant skills are needed to cope with the challenges of a situation, that person’s attention is completely absorbed by the activity. There is no excess psychic energy left over to process any information but what the activity offers. All the attention is concentrated on the relevant stimuli. As a result, one of the most universal and distinctive features of optimal experience takes place: people become so involved in what they are doing that the activity becomes spontaneous, almost automatic; they stop being aware of themselves as separate from the actions they are performing. A dancer describes how it feels when a performance is going well: “Your concentration is very complete. Your mind isn’t wandering, you are not thinking of something else; you are totally involved in what you are doing…. Your energy is flowing very smoothly. You feel relaxed, comfortable, and energetic.” A rock climber explains how it feels when he is scaling a mountain: “You are so involved in what you are doing [that] you aren’t thinking of yourself as separate from the immediate activity…. You don’t see yourself as separate from what you are doing.” A mother who enjoys the time spent with her small daughter: “Her reading is the one thing that she’s really into, and we read together. She reads to me, and I read to her, and that’s a time when I sort of lose touch with the rest of the world, I’m totally absorbed in what I’m doing.” A chess player tells of playing in a tournament: “…the concentration is like breathing—you never think of it. The roof could fall in and, if it missed you, you would be unaware of it.” It is for this reason that we called the optimal experience “flow.” The short and simple word describes well the sense of seemingly effortless movement.

Context:

Here Csikszentmihalyi offers a phenomenological description of World 2 at its most generative. When challenge and skill are precisely matched, attention becomes fully absorbed in the present activity, leaving no surplus mental energy for self-reflection, evaluation, or identity maintenance. Awareness narrows to what is immediately relevant, and the usual sense of being a separate observer dissolves. Action feels spontaneous, fluid, and effortless—not because effort is absent, but because it is perfectly integrated.

The first-person reports from dancers, climbers, parents, and chess players all point to the same interior structure: a temporary suspension of self-consciousness and a merging of attention with activity. In these moments, individuals do not experience themselves as agents directing action from the outside; rather, action unfolds through them. Time distorts, concern for outcomes fades, and experience acquires a distinctive quality of ease and vitality.

This state—what Csikszentmihalyi calls flow—reveals how World 2 can momentarily shed the narrative of “self” and function as a clear channel for perception, movement, and insight. It is precisely under these conditions that creative sparks, intuitions, and problem-solving breakthroughs are most likely to arise. Flow thus provides the lived, interior counterpart to the abstract claim that scientific theories and inventions originate in consciousness: it shows how, when the mind is unburdened by self-monitoring, novelty and understanding can emerge naturally and without strain.


🧠 6. “In the seen, there is only the seen; in the heard, only the heard; in the sensed, only the sensed; in the cognized, only the cognized. Then, Bahiya, there is no you in that.”

Context:

In the preceding account of flow, Csikszentmihalyi shows how deep absorption can temporarily suspend self-consciousness. Attention becomes fully aligned with activity, and the sense of being a separate observer fades. The Buddha’s instruction to Bāhiya can be read as pointing to this same phenomenological opening—but interpreted not as a transient state, nor as a means to later strengthen identity, but as a direct insight into the nature of experience itself.

Where flow describes what it feels like when the narrative of self falls silent, the Buddha asks a further question: what remains when that narrative is absent? His answer is uncompromisingly simple. In immediate experience—seeing, hearing, sensing, knowing—there is no additional entity that owns or stands behind these events. Experience does not require a possessor. When perception is met directly, without inserting the thought “I am the one who sees,” nothing accumulates into identity.

This teaching reframes the dissolution of self-consciousness observed in flow. Instead of treating it as a temporary functional state that later gives rise to a stronger self, the Buddha treats it as evidence that the self was never more than an interpretive overlay. When experience is not appropriated, clarity does not consolidate into identity; it releases it. The aftermath is not self-expansion but self-thinning—a lightness in which awareness remains, but the sense of “me” does not take hold.

In this light, intense presence does not point toward the growth of the self but toward its quieting. The Buddha’s instruction reveals that the same interior conditions that enable flow—absorption, immediacy, freedom from self-monitoring—can also open onto a deeper insight: that experience unfolds perfectly well without an owner. What flow hints at temporarily, this teaching articulates as a stable understanding—shifting one’s relation to experience from ownership to simple awareness, from “mine” to what is.


🧠 7. “When a man lets go of all desires and acts without craving, free from longing, without the sense of ‘I’ or ‘mine,’ he attains peace.”

Context:
Krishna teaches that freedom arises not from controlling life but from releasing the ego’s claim over it. When action is no longer driven by craving or defended as “mine,” the mind becomes open, unburdened, and spacious. This is the freedom of non-attachment — the ability to respond without compulsion, to act without fear, and to move without the weight of identity. In this state, one sees more options, chooses more clearly, and participates in reality with ease. Krishna’s insight is that true freedom is not gained by strengthening the self but by loosening its grip.


🧠 8. “The master does nothing, yet nothing is left undone.”

Translation: Common rendering of wu wei — “effortless action” or “non-doing.”
Context:

Lao Tzu reveals the creative potential that emerges when ego becomes transparent. In wu wei, action is not forced but flows naturally from the situation itself. This is creativity in its purest form — not manufactured, not willed, not strained, but arising spontaneously from deep alignment with reality. When the self steps out of the way, ideas appear effortlessly, solutions reveal themselves, and action becomes precise, fluid, and inventive. This is the creativity of no-self: the world shaping itself through an uncluttered mind.


🧠 9. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Context: Jesus expresses the essential moral insight that arises when the ego softens: we recognize that others possess the same inner life we do. This recognition is the root of morality. When the boundary of “I” loosens, concern naturally extends outward; generosity and love appear not as duties but as spontaneous responses to our shared humanity. Morality, in this view, is simply the commitment to protect in others the same freedom, dignity, and creative potential we cherish in ourselves. The Golden Rule becomes a reminder that true moral action flows from a lightened ego—an openness that sees self and other as intertwined rather than opposed.


🧠 10. “This is the real secret of life — to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it is play.”

Context: 

Watts brings together the insights of the scientific, psychological, and spiritual traditions into a single posture toward life. Popper showed that our models are provisional and the world forever open; Csikszentmihalyi revealed that creativity arises when self-consciousness fades; the Buddha taught that the self is not an owner of experience; Krishna described the freedom of action without attachment; Lao Tzu expressed the creativity that flows when ego is silent; Jesus expanded this into generosity toward all beings.
Watts distills these threads into a practical invitation: live as if life itself is play.
Play does not mean frivolity — it means engagement without fear, action without ego, creativity without strain, generosity without calculation. When we meet the present moment with a light, curious, and playful mind, freedom expands, creativity flows, and love becomes natural. This is the attitude that unifies all the preceding teachings: a way of being in which life is not a burden to carry but a movement to join.

The Transparent Self - How Openness Unites Science and Consciousness

We live in two domains: the exterior and the interior. The exterior is the shared world of matter, patterns, and causes—the realm explored through science. The interior is the private world of consciousness—thoughts, feelings, imagination, and will. Science gives us remarkable power to understand and shape the exterior, yet the interior remains elusive, paradoxical, and deeply personal.

The exterior world is where humanity’s collective intellect operates. We do not know what the world ultimately is; we model it through conjecture and refutation, guided by mathematics and evidence. Science, at its best, is an open conversation—an evolving process rather than a monument to certainty. Its humility is its strength. Every scientific theory is a provisional framework — a structure that helps us see farther today and will be reshaped by clearer insight tomorrow. The willingness to revise what we believe keeps science alive and honest.

The interior, by contrast, is what we directly inhabit. Thoughts, emotions, and sensations arise uninvited, appearing from who knows where—perhaps the brain, perhaps something deeper. Even the triumphs of exterior science ultimately originate within the interior. Every equation, hypothesis, and discovery begins as a thought. The universe builds models of itself through the medium of mind. The interior is not secondary to the exterior—it is the lens through which the exterior becomes intelligible.

To be conscious is to witness a ceaseless flow of inner experience. We cannot stop it; we can only observe it and learn from it. It comes as a gift, not an achievement. To receive consciousness as a gift is to meet it with reverence, gratitude, and attention. It is to stay curious, humble, compassionate, playful, and still. These attitudes let awareness expand freely through you, turning the gift inward into clarity. In this field of clarity; freedom, creativity, and morality take shape.

Within that river of consciousness arises the ego—the “I” that organizes experience;  attributes like identification, habituality, ownership, comparison, control, and resistance—all serve one hidden function: to preserve the illusion of stability in a world that’s always changing. The ego is necessary for orientation, yet it easily hardens. It mistakes its story for truth, its preferences for facts, its habits for identity. A rigid ego resists correction and narrows perception. A permeable ego, by contrast, stays adaptable and open. It allows thought and feeling to move freely, learning from both. The ego, a shifting pattern of thoughts that arises and subsides, cannot abolish itself—but by being aware of its push and pull, it naturally softens and loses its grip.

As the ego softens, three capacities expand together: freedom, creativity, and morality. Freedom grows because a lighter ego reacts less and chooses more. It sees options that a defensive mind cannot. It becomes tolerant of uncertainty and unafraid to change its mind. Freedom is not dominance over life but participation in its flow.

Creativity deepens for the same reason. When ownership loosens, imagination awakens. Ideas and insights appear as if they arrive through rather than from the individual. Many artists and scientists describe themselves as channels for something larger than themselves. The self becomes a conduit for thought from the unknown—whether one calls it the unconscious, nature, or God.

Morality, too, matures as the ego becomes porous. It respects both the outer facts that science reveals and the inner realities of others—their capacity to feel, to suffer, and to create. Moral action, in this light, is not obedience to rules but responsiveness to awareness. To act morally is to honor and protect the freedom and creativity of others while exercising one’s own. It is the attitude of live and let live elevated to a principle: to grant others the same openness, curiosity, and creative space that one seeks for oneself. Morality is reciprocal freedom.

When ego softens and freedom arises, its most natural movement is creation. True freedom does not drift into habits & passivity; it joins the unfolding of reality as play. A mind no longer driven by fear or compulsion explores for the sheer joy of discovery, moving toward what is new and unformed because curiosity itself becomes its direction. It delights in novelty and finds meaning not in utility or reward but in the pleasure of expanding what can be known, expressed, or imagined. Every genuine act of creation—a thought, a melody, an insight—is the universe playing through us, renewing itself in infinite forms.

In the limit—when the ego becomes fully transparent—the boundary between self and world begins to dissolve. Freedom, creativity & generosity converge into a single movement of awareness. Traditions have called this state Moksha, Nirvana, Fanaa, Theosis, or Satori. In secular terms, it is the moment when the ego has fallen silent and experience becomes whole—thought, feeling, and action unfolding with natural clarity.


Practices like Transcendental Meditation make this philosophy tangible. Sitting quietly, one sees the torrent of thoughts, the depths of stillness, the uniqueness of each session. Thoughts arise and fade, and occasionally a spacious awareness appears behind them. That perspective—a glimpse of consciousness without a strong “I”—is what a smaller ego feels like. Each session offers a miniature experiment in humility and permeability.

Growth in the interior realm cannot be measured by possessions or accomplishments but by the quiet lessening of resistance. Each reduction of inner friction brings a different kind of maturity. As defensiveness gives way to curiosity, freedom widens; you begin to notice more choices where habit once dictated a single response. As ownership loosens into participation, creativity flourishes; ideas appear more easily, connections form across unlikely places, and playfulness replaces the fear of error. As rigidity relaxes into responsiveness, morality deepens; empathy arises without calculation, and respect for others’ freedom and creativity becomes spontaneous rather than dutiful. Every small softening of the ego—every moment of permeability—enlarges the field of freedom, imagination, and compassion from which a meaningful life is lived.

The two domains—the exterior and the interior—differ in how clearly they can be known. The exterior yields to measurement and shared verification; the interior reveals itself only through personal experience and reflection. Yet both flourish through the same spirit of openness. The exterior advances through conjecture, refutation, and revision; the interior deepens through awareness, empathy, and surrender. Science refines that mind outwardly; meditation, art, and reflection refine it inwardly. Science refines our models of the world, while consciousness refines our relation to experience. Both decay when dogma or ego hardens—and both come alive again through humility, the willingness to be changed by what is seen. In truth, every outer discovery begins within, for it is the interior that sees, questions, and imagines. The two are not separate enterprises but one continuous unfolding of understanding, inside and out.

The smaller the ego, the greater the freedom, the deeper the morality, and the wider the creativity. When both the outer and inner remain open, life itself becomes a continuous act of discovery. The world we study and the self that studies it are two movements of the same unfolding reality. Our task is simple, though never easy: to keep the mind clear enough to learn, the heart open enough to feel, and the ego light enough to let life happen through us.

The Three Pillars: Ontology, Phenomenology, and Epistemology in a Non-Dual World

There are three great questions that underlie every human life: What is real? How should I live? How can I know? Philosophers give these inquiries three names — ontology, phenomenology, and epistemology. They sound abstract, but in fact, they shape how we breathe, how we act, and how we understand our place in the whole.

🌌 Ontology: The Wholeness of Being



For centuries, thinkers have wrestled with the split between matter and mind. Materialism tells us the world is nothing but matter, but stumbles when asked to explain consciousness — that undeniable glow at the heart of experience. Idealism tells us all is mind, but struggles to explain how a shared, physical world could arise from it. Each is compelling but incomplete. Non-dualism dissolves the split. It says matter and mind are not two substances but two aspects of one Being, two sides of the same coin. The world is not divided; the division lies only in our way of seeing. The seer and the seen, the subject and the object, are woven into one fabric. Reality is a wholeness of Being — the ground from which every star, thought, and heartbeat arises.



🌱 Phenomenology: The Art of Living



From this vision flows a way of life. If each of us is a finite perspective through which the Infinite looks at itself, then our calling is authenticity: to be the viewpoint we are, to live our lives with sincerity and spontaneity. This is not grim duty but play — the dance of existence expressing itself through our particular form. Yet play without depth can turn shallow. Because we forget our root in Being, we take ourselves too seriously, mistaking masks for essence. Spiritual practices — yoga, meditation, prayer, silence — are not escapes but reminders. They give us glimpses of the Infinite within the finite, allowing compassion and love to flow more naturally through our roles. As Maharishi Mahesh Yogi suggested through Transcendental Meditation, we can taste the timeless in the span of twenty minutes, and then return to daily life with greater clarity, freshness, and alignment.



📚 Epistemology: The Dance of Knowing



And yet, how do we know? Here, too, humility is needed. Science, mathematics, and philosophy are magnificent tools — Karl Popper taught us that knowledge advances not by final proofs but by conjectures and refutations, hypotheses and criticisms. Language, art, and music provide shared maps by which we make sense of our experience. But these are maps, not territory; useful fictions, not absolutes. There is no final word, no last theory, no complete description. Epistemology itself must bow to the truth that all knowing is relative, provisional, and embedded in the play of Being.



✨ A Timeless Balance



So the three pillars come together:


  • Ontology points us to the wholeness of non-dual Being.
  • Phenomenology invites us to live authentically, playfully, and compassionately, supported by practices that deepen our awareness.

TM

TM procedure:
1. Sit erect
2. Close your eyes
3. Wait for about 30 secs
4. Start mantra

Mantra translates to mind (man) instrument (tra). A tool to traverse the mental realm.

Starting mantra once is enough. Whatever happens in the next 20 minutes is not important. You have completed the meditation successfully. 

The subjective experience of meditation will change every time. Don't worry about it. 
Take it as it comes. Here goes nothing attitude. 

The sign of success during meditation is effortlessness. If meditation becomes effortfull, focus on the body. See if there is any stress in the body. 'Feel the body' technique says be aware of the part of the body where there is stress. Don't try to control it or change it. Just be with it. And whenever appropriate, innocently come back to mantra.

If you feel sleepy during meditation, the guidance is to sleep rather than continue with meditation. The wisdom is to listen to the body.

Cool down period - rest after meditation is important for integration. It's like dust settling down after you remove dirt from bottom of a fish tank. You need to give it time.

There is a relation between mind and body. During TM, you go into both local brain hemisphere alpha coherence and whole frontal coherence. This is seen uniquely with TM method. When mind settles, coheres, body settles. Sometimes you become aware after the moment there was no mantra, no thought. Sometimes you don't breathe during those deep moments. And then you gasp for breath, this is normal during TM. As part of stress release, body activates and then thoughts arise. The only agency you need to exercise during meditation is when you find you are off the mantra, innocently come back to it.

We all incur a lot of sleep debt. We push through with caffeine. TM retreat helps remove some of this debt. During a retreat, we do something called rounding to enhance the effect of the practice. It includes this sequence - yoga, pranayama, TM and rest. You do many rounds every day in a retreat. You do longer duration of TM and rest.

Recommendation is :
1. Do TM twice a day - right after you wake up and in the middle of your day
2. Naturally reduce caffeine - this usually happens over time for TM practitioners. Caffeine is a simulant you shouldn't need to go through life. 
3. Get sufficient sleep and don't let sleep debt build up. Try to not set alarm. Take naps if needed. 

Yogastha kuru karmani
This translates to 'established in yoga, perform action'.

TM is a spiritual practice to get a taste of Enlightenment. Enlightenment is a one way door. Once you attain it, you are established in Yoga and nothing external can shake your unity with non-dual Being. Your actions are naturally authentic and spontaneous.

There are no absolute answers to moral questions - what is good, bad etc. An enlightened being performs actions authentically and spontaneously. But most people are not enlightened. TM gives us a tool to transcend the best we can twice a day and engage with life after that in the most integrated way possible.

Morality without an organized religious belief

How can you get to morality without organized religion?

According to Non-duality - everything is really one thing.

The one thing appears as “matter” and “mind/consciousness” - these are concepts. Nevertheless, they are experiential to us and makes us come up with doctrinal extremes of materialism and idealism. Some choose to reject these extremes.

The ground of being can’t be named or captured in a concept. Best to leave it unsaid.

In this situation, you are that ground experiencing itself from a point of view. So is everyone else.

So, in a way, every thing is okay. Good and evil exist. They are what these egos do and experience.

When you glimpse the truth of non-duality, three qualities naturally unfold. First, life is seen as play — a dance where you participate sincerely but without the crushing weight of seriousness. Yet play on its own can become shallow, so out of the same vision arises compassionate love — the recognition that all forms, all beings, are yourself in disguise, and thus to be treated with tenderness. And alongside play and love comes harmony, what the Gita calls dharma: the intuition to strike the note that fits the music, to move in rhythm with the whole rather than in discord. True action, then, is a weaving of these three: playful, compassionate, and harmonious — light as a dance, warm as love, and tuned to the song of the cosmos.

Therefore, the answer is you don’t get top-down morality without organized religion. But what you do get is authentic, kind, inspiring life.
